PROVO — VASA Fitness replaced 17 Gold’s Gym locations in Utah Thursday and will become its own local brand, according to VASA Fitness public relations manager Jessie Medina.

Current gym memberships will be transferred to the new facilities, and new equipment will gradually be added at each gym, according to VASA Fitness.

Additions include new turf training areas, relaxation centers, cardio cinema rooms, and on-site childcare according to VASA Fitness.

Certain locations will house a lap pool, Jacuzzis, hot tubs, tanning booths, saunas, and massage beds, VASA Fitness said.

“VASA Fitness was created to provide the best workout environment for the best prices in Utah,” said VASA Fitness owner Scott Felsted in a press release. “Our team’s focus is community-centered fitness in a clean, welcoming and fun environment. We want our VASA members to feel at home in their neighborhood clubs, which also means expansion into other communities in Utah and out-of-state.”

To promote its brand, VASA is offering special deals during the holiday season.

All VASA locations are free of charge Friday through Sunday without contract or membership commitment until Dec. 31, according to VASA Fitness.

The facility is also offering a free, three-day, commitment-free pass for potential members.

“The VASA team wants to provide all potential clientele the opportunity to try the equipment, participate in fitness classes, and explore the clubs before purchasing a membership,” according to VASA Fitness.

Correction: (11/21/2014) This story originally included all Gold's Gym locations in Utah. The VASA brand change only affects the 17 locations from Bountiful to St. George. The northern Utah locations are operated by a different franchise owner.
