OGDEN — Weber State played its most complete game of the season Saturday.

The Wildcats came away with a 34-21 victory over Northern Colorado on Senior Day and largely dominated the game from start to finish. Whenever a play had to be made, the Wildcats made it as they picked up their first home victory of the season.

With the win, Weber registered its best effort of the season in many respects, and earned high grades in the win.

Offense: B+ -----------

After struggling to run the ball against North Dakota, the Wildcats ran for 204 yards in the win. Also, senior Bo Bolen ran for 143 yards and scored a touchdown in his final game at Stewart Stadium.

The downside of the grade came from quarterback Jadrian Clark’s two interceptions, which didn’t lead to any Northern Colorado points. Still, the dominant running attack helped outweigh the interceptions, as did the 3-for-3 performance in red-zone scoring opportunities.

Defense: A

Any time a defense forces five turnovers, it deserves a great deal of respect. Weber forced four fumbles, and senior Deontae Florence had an interception in the game.

Additionally, Northern Colorado rushed for only 69 yards and completed only 5-of-13 third-down opportunities.

It was hands down the best defensive performance of the season for Weber.

Special Teams: C+

The low special teams grade stems from the team being unable to stop Northern Colorado kick returner Ellis Onic from picking up large chunks of yardage on kick returns. Onic returned four kicks for a total of 145 yards, and his return of the opening kickoff allowed Northern Colorado good field position, which it turned into a touchdown six plays later.

Still, Josh Kealamakia made two field goals, which helped Weber maintain momentum.

Team: A-

Turnovers and special teams confusion drop the grade a bit, but this was the most complete effort of the season for the Wildcats.
