A 5 o'clock shadow that gets to stay the whole week. Work attire that's often more casual than formal. Experimenting with new and engaging technology. The ability the work remotely or in the office.

Sound like your dream career? We thought so.

With the way the world of business is heading, now is the time to get into digital marketing. It's exciting, it pays well, flexibility is guaranteed, and if you're a millennial, chances are you've got a knack for it. In case you aren't convinced yet, here are six reasons why you'd love a career in digital marketing.

1. Flexible lifestyle

There is nothing better than having the freedom to move anywhere you want and keep your job. Because digital marketing is online-based, you can often times get the same job done from the beaches of Hawaii or your swanky NYC apartment — or on airplanes in between.

If you aren't freelancing and instead are working for an agency, you'll likely be working at one location, but more and more agencies are allowing work-from-home policies — and that's something to celebrate.

2. Your job never gets old

If you have a history of job-hopping due to boredom, rest assured that won't happen in this industry. Digital marketing is one career that will never be the same.

The digital landscape is in constant change, therefore marketers are innovating their processes and adapting to how people use technology on a daily basis. You will always be learning new things, trying new techniques and altering the way you do business (Besides, where else can you hangout on Facebook and Pinterest all day and say it's work-related?).

3. Beautiful combination of art and science

Digital marketing isn't just coming up with creative ideas for campaigns, nor is it just working on spreadsheets figuring out how to optimize websites for search — it's the perfect combination of both. If you love being able to think outside of the box while still geeking out over analytics, this career is for you.

According to Miranda Brookins via The Houston Chronicle, "Social media gives business owners the ability to share information, such as blog posts, tips and ideas and coupons instantly." Digital marketing is fast. It's creative. It's affordable.

4. Growing job market

Almost every company is online. If they aren't, they may not be in business much longer. Even if a business sells tacos in a brick-and-mortar location, they still need a presence online — that is where digital marketers come in.

Within the next five years, more than 75 percent of a company's marketing budget will be in digital. This is one career that isn't going away anytime soon.

5. It pays well

Most jobs that are too good to be true usually are — except for digital marketing. The average digital marketer makes $65,766, according to Moz.com, and it's not unrealistic to make a six-figure income if you move into senior positions or even take on your own clients.

With many industries on the decline — like print journalism shifting to Web — it's reassuring to know digital marketing is on the rise. With a strong foundation in a digital-hungry world, this would be a worthy investment that would pay you back.

6. It doesn't require a degree

Universities simply can't keep up with how fast technology changes, and that leaves Utah marketing graduates $20,000+ in student debt and applying for minimum-wage jobs.

What companies look for is passion and experience. One of the quickest ways to get involved with digital marketing is attend a digital marketing bootcamp like the one Market Campus offers here in Utah. The bootcamp is a great hands-on way to gain all the skills needed to start a new and exciting career at a nice price. Brooke has edited content for both journalistic writing and training modules and currently is an editor for multiple publications. She graduated as a Communication major.
