CEDAR CITY — Cache Sabey scored on two short touchdown runs Saturday, and Rich High’s defense did the rest as the Rebels won their first Class 1A state title since 2009 with a 20-0 shutout of Diamond Ranch Academy at Southern Utah University.
Sabey did all of his scoring in the first half, scoring on a 1-yard TD plunge in the first quarter and adding a 6-yard TD in the second as Rich took a 14-0 lead into the half.
Kyler Clark had a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Class 2A
At SUU, South Summit quarterback Ty Jones accounted for three touchdowns as the Wildcats won their second-straight 2A title with a 28-6 win over Summit Academy.
Jones scored on a 49-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, then added touchdown passes of 46 and 9 yards to Bracken Santos as South Summit scored 28 unanswered points to clinch the win.
Harley Georgi had a 13-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for South Summit.
Steven Harp scored on a 1-yard run for Summit Academy’s lone touchdown.
Class 3A
At SUU, Judge Memorial piled up 536 yards on 54 carries to cruise to a 49-0 halftime lead and routed Juab 63-14 in the 3A final.
Max Barnett scored four touchdowns for Judge Memorial, including TD runs of 21, 2, 30 and 2 yards. Michael Kearns and Ayden Auer each added two rushing touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
Nick Robbins threw two touchdown passes for Juab, an 81-yard reception to Kyler Nielsen and an 11-yard pass to Payton Bowring as time wound down on a second-half running clock.
