LEHI — We've all been told, "If you see something unusual, say something."

Many viewers called KSL to tell Tuesday about a soldier they saw standing over I-15 in Lehi this morning. He was in full Army dress uniform and was holding an American flag.

However, we don't know this man's story — he wants to keep it that way.

"I don't want anybody to know who I am if I can help it,” the mystery man told KSL News.

At a time when so many people want attention, including former military members writing books about top-secret missions, this man wanted nothing.

“I'm not here to make any big, grand statements for anybody," he said. "(I'm) just enjoying the day.”

You have to smile at him, standing there and saluting, making sure people remember Veterans Day and the sacrifice so many of our country's bravest heroes performed.

“It means a lot to me. It means a lot to a lot of people," the mystery solider said. "I had a guy stop, an older gentleman; here he was all crying already. (He) got out of his car and shook my hand. It about made me all tear up.”

A lot of people stopped to talk to the man Tuesday, shake his hand and say thank you.

Yes, there were more reporters, like myself, who wanted to hear his story. “No,” he replied to all of them in a friendly tone. “No, I'm good. Thanks, though. I appreciate it."

Our mystery man doesn't want recognition. And, you know what? That's OK because he's representing all those who fought and died for our country — the nameless, faceless heroes we all know exist but don't necessarily know who they are.

Just like him.
