OGDEN — A 5-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl are in critical condition following the head-on collision of two vehicles on the viaduct Friday.

Around 11:35 a.m., police were dispatched to an accident at 300 W 21st St. where a 59-year-old woman driving her 2007 Toyota Camry the wrong way crashed into a 2011 Chrysler 200 Sedan driven by a 32-year-old woman that was also occupied by the two injured children and an infant boy, Ogden police Lt. Will Cragun said.

Lauretta Jensen, 59, was driving west on the two-lane, eastbound one-way with a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit of .08 when she hit the Chrysler, according to Cragun. Other vehicles were able to avoid Jensen, but the 32-year-old woman could not.

The children were taken by Life Flight to Primary Children’s Hospital in critical condition, and Cragun said Sunday that there is no current update as to their condition.

All children were properly restrained in the back seat of the Chrysler, Cragun said.

Jensen was booked into Weber County Jail for investigation of DUI, possession or use of a controlled substance, serious bodily injury and driving on the wrong side of the roadway among other charges.

The 32-year-old mother of the children and her infant son were treated at the scene and were also checked out at a hospital before they were released.
