KANAB — The Grand to Grand Ultra belongs at the top of the list as one of the world's most amazing travel adventures. Extreme athletes from all around the world arrive in Kanab to compete in an endurance race spanning six days.

The race begins on the rim of the Grand Canyon and ends 170 miles later on the southern tip of the Bryce Canyon. Along the way, a racer's fortitude will be tested as they endure desert heat, blinding monsoon rains, hail and autumnal frost.

Yet, they all describe it as one of the best experiences of their lives.

Steven Law writes about the places, curiosities and people that make Utah beautiful.
