SALT LAKE CITY — Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus go on sale Friday morning, but some enthusiasts have been lined up outside the City Creek Center well in advance.

Tyler Young might be an expert when it comes to lining up for the new iPhone.

“I’ve gotten the iPhone on opening day since 2007,” Young said. “It’s probably a problem.”

But Young isn’t alone.

In addition to the people in line here in Salt Lake City, over 4 million pre-orders were recorded the first 24 hours, Apple announced last Monday.

“iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said. “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”

Pre-ordered iPhones could come as early as Friday, and as late as October, due to the overwhelming demand, which is why so many like Young camped out Thursday night.

"It's kind of an addiction," Young said.

The line will move into the City Creek Center at 6 a.m. The doors to the Apple store will open at 8 a.m. on Friday for the launch.
