WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley mother accused of stabbing her two children was charged Tuesday with attempted murder.
Mary Galvis, 47, who was arrested over the weekend, was charged in 3rd District Court with two counts of attempted murder, a first-degree felony.
Police responding to the West Valley home, 3427 S. 2660 West, early Saturday found the two children — a 12-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy — covered in blood as Galvis' husband restrained her on the floor. Investigators found a large pool of blood inside the front door and two knives, one with blood on the blade, in a back bedroom.
Both children were treated at Primary Children's Hospital for multiple stab wounds that required stitches, the charges state. The 12-year-old girl had two stab wounds in the upper chest and a pneumothorax while the 8-year-old boy was stabbed in his upper chest, forearm, thigh and knee.
