HYDE PARK — An 82-year-old man was killed in a three-car crash on Highway 91 Tuesday, police said.
Dav Frew, of Preston, Idaho, was driving a blue Mazda pickup when he attempted to turn left at 4040 North Main Street in Hyde Park to travel north on the highway, according to the North Park Police Department. The accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m.
There was heavy traffic in the southbound lanes when Frew attempted to make the turn, according to investigators. They said 28-year-old Jared Astle, who was driving a GMC Sierra pickup in the southbound lane, did not have time to avoid colliding with Frew.
He crashed into the driver's side door of Frew's vehicle, according to police. They said debris from the collision struck a Honda Civic traveling in the northbound lane.
A witness tried to perform CPR on Frew at the scene, investigators said. He was transported to Cache Valley Hospital, where he later died.
Astle was transported to the Logan Regional Hospital after saying he had neck pain.
