MANILA, Daggett County — Utah State Park rangers and deputies from the Daggett County Sheriff's Office are searching for a 69-year-old man after the boat he was traveling in on Flaming Gorge Reservoir capsized Monday.
The man was fishing on a small boat with an electric motor, and was accompanied by a 62-year-old woman who used a personal flotation device to swim to shore and reported the man missing around 4 p.m., according to deputy Susie Potter.
Wind gusts made the water choppy and as the couple was traveling from the Antelope Flats area toward Lucerne Marina, the boat overturned, Potter said.
A Uintah County search and rescue dive team was on the scene, while a Department of Public Safety dive team, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and Sweetwater County search and rescue out of Wyoming will be joining in the search Wednesday morning, according to Potter.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
