SOUTH OGDEN — A woman was arrested after allegedly stealing several pieces of jewelry and a store employee’s purse Thursday.
Paula Prebble, 50, stole the items from Brumbles at 4390 Washington Blvd. while a male acquaintance she initially entered the store with visited an insurance company, according to the South Ogden Police Department. There were no store employees present at the time of the burglary, police said.
After Prebble left, the store called and reported the theft to police. Investigators said they identified the man and obtained a license plate number by using surveillance footage from a neighboring business and talking to the insurance agency.
Officers spotted the car on the way back from visiting the man’s address and found Prebble inside, police said. Prebble was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to jail documents.
She was booked into the Weber County Jail on Saturday.
