SALT LAKE CITY — With Shark Week among the trending topics on Twitter and even finding its way into office conversations, we decided to honor it with these five videos.

For those unfamiliar with the special, Shark Week first aired on July 17, 1988 on the Discovery Channel. The shows focus on factual, sometimes fictional, information about sharks for a week each year. Many viewers look forward to the dramatic episodes, often inciting talk over the water cooler the next day at work. The special is known to have gotten more fictional as years have passed.

Six animals more dangerous than sharks

Sharks are intimidating animals, but apparently there are at least other six animals that are more dangerous than sharks. According to this Discovery News video, sharks kill around 20 people yearly. The most dangerous animal shown in the video kills almost one million people yearly. Galeophobia, the fear of sharks, is still a rational fear though, as between 50 and 70 people are injured by sharks annually, 20 of which are killed, DNews mentions.

The fastest shark in the ocean

This video brings to life the shortfin mako shark. The tail of the mako evolved over millions of years to make it quick enough to catch its prey. This shark can move up to 60 miles an hour in the water. It's considered the fastest swimmer, so getting caught in its tracks would not be ideal.

The biggest shark ever caught

Apparently sharks can be a lot bigger than I'd pictured. The video showed this shark caught in Australia weighed 5,085 pounds and was over 22 feet long. This shark puts all others to shame sizewise.

Killer whale versus great white shark

National Geographic shows a "battle" between a killer whale weighing 12,000 pounds and a great white shark weighing 5,000 pounds in this video. If you're really into Shark Week and can't seem to get enough, watch this video because it isn't just a small clip. It has 48 minutes of shark talk for all of you Shark Weekers.

Shark in the water

Last, but not least, you probably need a song to jam out to during Shark Week. What could be more appropriate than V.V. Brown's Shark in the Water? Enjoy her music video during your break from watching the Discovery Channel this week.
