OGDEN — A woman remains in critical condition Thursday morning after a car hit her while she was crossing the street Wednesday evening.

The 67-year-old was hit by a passenger vehicle turning left onto Harrison Boulevard while she was crossing 24th Street around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Ogden Police Lt. Tim Scott. The signal was in the pedestrian's favor, he said.

"Witnesses report that she had gone up in the air, over the vehicle, over the vehicle's hood and then landed in the roadway, striking her head (on the ground). That's probably the most significant injury," Scott said.

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital. She remained critically injured but stable as of Thursday morning.

The 70-year-old driver told police she did not see the woman in the crosswalk. She was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian, according to police.

"People need to be aware at intersections and crosswalks that there might be a pedestrian present, and they just need to be aware and on the lookout," Scott said.

Police do not believe that speed played a factor in the incident.
