SALT LAKE CITY — Do we all agree that summertime in Utah is beautiful? Don't let it slip by without enjoying some of the uplifting cultural and entertainment events that are being offered to the public this season.
Here is a list of 10 recommended outdoor summer events. Give one of these options a try and make sunny memories that will last throughout the cold months to come.
Salt Lake area:
Twilight Concert Series in Salt Lake City
An impressive lineup of artists have played and are on the schedule for these outdoor shows, including Beck performing on Aug. 14. Concerts take place in Pioneer Park on Thursday evenings during July and August. The music begins at 7 p.m.
It may be hard to keep your eyes on the screen in this beautiful setting. Outdoor family-friendly movies play every Friday through Aug. 15. The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. so arrive early to grab a good seat.
Snowbird Cool-Air Concert Series
Enjoy great live music under the stars. Bands play every Saturday from 6 - 9 p.m. through Aug 9.
Downtown Salt Lake and Sugar House farmers markets
The Salt Lake market features a large variety of arts and crafts, fresh produce and flowers and many delicious food and bakery booths to choose from. You may need to visit several times to give everything a look and a taste. Located in Pioneer park, the market is open every Tuesday evening and Saturday morning through October.
The Sugar House farmers market is perfect for those who enjoy a charming local neighborhood scene. The market is open on Friday afternoons from 4 to 8 p.m. through October 17 at Sugarmont Plaza.
Utah Valley:
Sundance Outdoor Theater and Bluebird Cafe concerts
Outdoor theater venues don't get better than this place — an amphitheater beneath the towering pines and starry sky. Enjoy country and blues music by singers and songwriters from the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. The last two shows will be on Aug. 22 and 29.
Performances of the classic play, Fiddler on the Roof, are also being held now through Aug. 16.
Sundance full moon chairlift rides
The moon looks bigger and brighter when seen from a chairlift. The full moon rides are perfect for a romantic date night or a fun family outing. Upcoming nights are scheduled for Aug. 8- 9, Sept. 8-10 and Oct. 9-11.
Thanksgiving Point outdoor movie series
Enjoy an outdoor movie with the family within the picturesque Gardens area. The movies run on Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. through Aug. 23.
A small farmers market is open on the property Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October.
Southern Utah:
Tuacahn Theater plays and concerts
This outdoor amphitheater is surrounded by striking red cliffs in Snow Canyon near St. George. Now showing is Disney's "The Little Mermaid," "The Wizard of Oz," and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" opens on Aug. 1.
There are concerts and a farmers market being hosted at this venue as well.
Located in Cedar City, this celebration of the dramatic arts will not disappoint. Choose from eight plays running now through October 18.
Utah Symphony Mighty Five Tour
Enjoy the sounds of the symphony in some of the most spectacular places in Utah. Performances will be held in Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Arches, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks during Aug. 12-16.
