COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — While serving a search warrant on based on a reported rape, investigators found illegal drugs and a “sizeable amount of cash,” according to police.

Sgt. Corbett Ford from the Cottonwood Heights Police Department said police obtained a warrant after a woman reported on July 24 that she had been sexually assaulted by a person she knew on July 20.

Ford said the woman was with the man when she passed out and the man “performed some sexual acts on her.” Based on that information, and other information she provided, Ford said police were able to obtain a search warrant.

The warrant was served Monday morning at a residence on Chadbourne Drive, where officers also found “different amounts” of ecstasy, marijuana, mushrooms and prescription medication, Ford said. They also found a “sizable amount of cash,” which Ford said was consistent with drug dealing.

Police arrested 25-year-old Kaycee Stevens and booked him into Salt Lake County Jail for "investigation of rape as well as possession of a controlled substance, and we anticipate to charge him with distribution,” Ford said.

“We always want to encourage the victims — whether they’re male or female ‐ if they’ve been sexually assaulted or if there’s something that’s occurred to them, we really encourage them to come forward and report that,” Ford said. “We think it’s important to hold people accountable for that.”
