LAS VEGAS — Utah Jazz point guard Trey Burke was named to Team USA Select on Monday and will participate in extended practice and scrimmage sessions with the U.S. national team ahead of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup this summer, according to multiple reports.
Burke will join former Michigan teammate Tim Hardaway, Jr., along with recent college grads Doug McDermott, Marcus Smart, Victor Oladipo and Miles and Mason Plumlee, among others. The squad will help prepare the 19-man U.S. roster for international competition. The senior team includes Jazz swing man Gordon Hayward and former Weber State guard Damian Lillard, among others.
Practices will be run in Las Vegas from July 28 until Aug. 1. The competition runs Aug. 30 through Sept. 14 in Spain.
