A week after attending the prestigious Manning Passing Academy as a counselor and competitor, BYU quarterback Taysom Hill on Wednesday added another stamp to his expanding preseason portfolio with a nomination for the [Davey O'Brien Award](<http://blog.daveyobrien.org/2014/07/16/2014-davey-o%E2%80%99brien-national-quarterback-award%C2%AE-watch-list-revealed/ >).

Given annually to the nation's best quarterback, the Davey O'Brien Award has been won four times by BYU signal-callers, most recently by Ty Detmer, who captured the award in 1991. Detmer also won the honor in 1990; other BYU winners were Jim McMahon in 1981 and Steve Young in 1983. No other school can claim more than BYU's four winners of the Davey O' Brien Award.

Hill in 2013 joined Johnny Manziel (2012) as the only FBS underclassmen to record a season with 1,300-plus rushing yards and 2,900-plus passing yards. Last season, Hill led BYU with 1,344 rushing passing yards, while adding 2,938 yards through the air.

Hill is also a nominee for the Maxwell Award, given to the college player of the year.

BYU has nine players up for a variety of postseason awards, as listed below.
