SALT LAKE CITY — Campfires and s’mores are a staple of summertime enjoyment.

Melted chocolate and warm marshmallows sandwiched between two graham crackers will always be delicious, but sometimes it can be fun to play with the classic combination. Adding Reese’s peanut butter cups to s’mores is a common sight, and there are plenty of other ways to change up the taste of your campfire treat.

We have listed a few simple ideas for alternative s’mores below. Let us know what your favorite s’more combination is in the comment section.

Lemon meringue

For a tangy citrus treat, s’mores can be transformed into a campfire version of lemon meringue pie. Jaclyn of the blog Cooking Classy suggested simply coating a graham cracker with lemon curd and adding a toasted marshmallow.

Chocolate mint

Melted mint chocolate goes great with gooey marshmallow for a tasty treat that has the added benefit of giving you good breath. For a little bit more chocolate, you can switch out regular graham crackers for chocolate graham crackers.

Strawberry banana

It is a fact of life that chocolate, bananas and strawberries always taste wonderful together. That is still true when you add a warm marshmallow and graham crackers into the equation.

Cinnamon caramel

If you aren’t in the mood for chocolate, another alternative that comes recommended by The Kitchn is spreading dulce de leche on a cinnamon graham cracker with marshmallow.

White chocolate berry

Swap the traditional milk chocolate for white chocolate and then top it with any mix of berries, like blueberries or raspberries, before smothering it with a toasted marshmallow for a fruity snack.

Triple chocolate

Maximize your chocolate intake by using chocolate graham crackers and a chocolate marshmallow to accompany the classic chocolate square.
