LEHI — When William Wordsworth penned the poetic lines of “I Wandered Lonely as Cloud," he envisioned a flock of dancing daffodils along the shores of a lake.

“They stretched in never-ending line, along the margin of a bay: ten thousand saw I at a glance, tossing their heads in sprightly dance," he wrote.

While Wordsworth’s words were written in homage of yellow, nodding daffodils, the imagery aptly applies to a host a springtime flowers — tulips being the crowning substitution for the cupped blossoms.

Thanksgiving Point’s Tulip Festival begins April 18, and with it bestows upon the public a glimmer into Worsdworth’s world: “I gazed and gazed but little thought what wealth the show to me had brought.”

Hundreds of thousands of tulips have sprung up throughout Thanksgiving Point Gardens and patrons will not be left wanting for more flora. The festival opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday until May 3.

Events added to this year’s lineup include a plein air art demonstration April 18 and 19 where local artist will descend on the gardens to paint pictures of the scenery. Other notable events include Dutch Days on April 25 and 26 where roving accordion players will serenade the daffodils and garden-goers.

Admission to the gardens is $15 for adults, $12 for children ages 3-12, and $12 for seniors 65 and older. For more information visit Thanksgivingpoint.org.
