HIGHLAND, Utah County — A 16-year-old has been missing for four days, and while police are investigating it as a runaway, her parents said they are concerned foul play may be involved.
Bryan and Andrea Huddleston had a small disagreement with their daughter about decisions they had made about her schooling last Friday that they said didn't seem like anything too serious at the time. But when they found a note saying she had run away, they said one line stood out to them that made them fear for her safety.
"The part that worries me is she says, ‘I'm fine; I'm being taken care of,'" Andrea said. "That doesn't sound right to me. It sounds like someone is luring her away."
Indica Huddleston, who should be starting her junior year at Lone Peak High School, had recently been spending a lot of time online, something that should have been a red flag, her parents said.
Andrea said that her daughter had been talking with older men.
"I didn't know she was talking to the kind of people she was talking to," Andrea Huddleston said. "I should have done a better job of monitoring, but I didn't."
Bryan said he fears she is now with foul people.
Lone Peak Police Department detectives are now investigating. When KSL asked why an Amber Alert hasn't been issued, they declined to comment.
Indica's parents are now working with national groups like the National Center for missing and Exploited Children.
They say Indica has strong ties to Washington State and California, and might have been taken there against her will.
"I think she would have made contact by now if she was safe and well," Bryan said. "I don't think she is safe and well."
Some of Indica's friends started a social media outreach on Facebook, hoping to help in the investigation. Anyone with information can contact the Lone Peak Police Department.
