Segment OneGovernment-mandated furloughs of nearly 11,000 civilian employees at Hill Air Force Base have begun. Officials estimate the local economy will take a $54 million dollar hit. But what about the direct impact on families forced to take a 20 percent cut in pay through September? Richard Piatt discussed that with his guests Natalie Gochnour, Associate Dean at the David Eccles School of Business and Monte Lewis with American Federation of Government Employees.

The key to economic growth in Utah will be continued monetary support of the area's transportation system, according to a new report commissioned by the Salt Lake Chamber. Utah has a thirty-year plan for state transportation, but faces an $11 billion shortfall. Richard Piatt discussed the issue with Wesley Smith from the Salt Lake Chamber and Steve Kroes, president of the Utah Foundation.
