KANSAS CITY, Mo. — When mom's away, the boys will play.

As a video producer, Missouri dad Emio Tomeoni knows the power of imagery. So he created a timelapse video to show his wife, Stephanie, just what he and his son,Xavier, get up to when she is at work.

"I'd tell her that the house was a disaster and that I was tired by the end of the day," he told the New York Daily News. "She'd just say, ‘Good, good.' She didn't understand because she came home to a clean house."

Tomeoni set up a camera and compiled what he called "a comprehensive report on the happenings of father and son while mama is away for the afternoon." He said the events in the video took place after his son's nap and before dinnertime.

The activities start off innocently enough, with father and son playing on the floor with a few toys. But Xavier would apparently rather be able to see his full collection, because the video slows to normal speed while he dumps a basket of toys on the floor.

The mess spreads, but the video is more than just a look at how quickly a toddler can upend a house. It captures the bond between a father and son, and shows just how similar many people really are in that stage of life, regardless of where they're from. And Tomeoni said it captures moments that won't last forever.

"Now, he'll always just come find me wherever I am," he said. "I know it won't be too long before he's 13 and he's not interested anymore."
