SALT LAKE CITY - The grades are in for spring semester and the University of Utah athletic teams set a department record for highest cumulative grade point average for the second-straight semester. Utah's varsity teams averaged a 3.136 GPA for the 2012 spring semester, besting the previous record of 3.072 set in the fall.
It also marked the fourth semester in a row that the Utah athletic teams have averaged above a 3.0 GPA, which is another school first.
Fifty-five percent of Utah's student-athletes made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (minimum 3.0 GPA) and 25-percent made the Dean's List (3.5 GPA with at least 12 graded credits). Football (2.872) and volleyball (3.637) both set new team GPA records.
