SALT LAKE CITY - Junior wing Will Clyburn has requested and been granted his release from the University of Utah men's basketball team.

"I asked Coach Krystkowiak for my release so I could explore my options," said Clyburn. "I made that decision long before finding out who the new coach would be. Coach K said he had my best interests in mind and if I felt it was right for me to leave, he would honor that. He also said if I decide Utah is still the best place for me that he would allow me to stay, and I really appreciate that."
"I believe a student-athlete should make the decision that is in their best interest," said Krystkowiak. "If a player thinks there is a better opportunity out there, I support him exploring that. I want players who believe Utah gives them the greatest chance to be successful, and I hope Will realizes at the end of this process that this really is the best place for him."
