SALT LAKE CITY - Junior wing Will Clyburn has requested and been granted his release from the University of Utah men's basketball team.

Three weeks after the University of Utah fired Jim Boylen, the Utes introduced Larry Krystkowiak as their men's basketball coach Monday afternoon."I asked Coach Krystkowiak for my release so I could explore my options," said Clyburn. "I made that decision long before finding out who the new coach would be. Coach K said he had my best interests in mind and if I felt it was right for me to leave, he would honor that. He also said if I decide Utah is still the best place for me that he would allow me to stay, and I really appreciate that."
"I believe a student-athlete should make the decision that is in their best interest," said Krystkowiak. "If a player thinks there is a better opportunity out there, I support him exploring that. I want players who believe Utah gives them the greatest chance to be successful, and I hope Will realizes at the end of this process that this really is the best place for him."
