SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake Magazine unveiled its annual dining awards Tuesday night.

  • Best Breakfast: Finn's Café
  • Best Quick Eats: Chow Truck
  • Best Neighborhood Restaurant: Caffe Niche
  • Best New Restaurant: Copper Onion
  • Best Restaurant in Salt Lake City: Forage Restaurant
  • Best Chef: John Murcko, Talisker on Main (Park City)

Awards included the induction of Squatters Pub Brewery into the Salt Lake magazine Dining Hall of Fame, which includes Mazza, Red Iguana, Log Haven, Cucina Toscana and Takashi.

Salt Lake magazine gave its first dining awards in 1996. The goal is to recognize Utah restaurants in the interest of fostering, encouraging and rewarding excellence in all areas of restaurant business. The awards are not based on any kind of scoring system, but on an evaluation of how well a restaurant or chef exemplifies a category.

"This year was somewhat of a culinary revolution in Utah," said Salt Lake magazine executive and dining editor Mary Brown Malouf in a news release. "We are seeing a whole new way of eating. Dining in Utah has changed for the better."
