Major League Soccer's Expansion Draft came and went and to much a big surprise Real Salt Lake really didn't lose anybody that would put a big dent into the team structure. David Horst was picked by the Portland Timber first and with that RSL protected Collen Warner. On paper Warner was the better player and in the view of the head coach as well, Horst didn't play a minute this season for ReAL.

Dodge a bullet there the next player to be picked was Robbie Findley and since Salt Lake knew he was gone anyways no big fuss here. The real question is, why Findley? If he is leaving for a foreign league then wouldn't it be counter productive to draft him? Sure, but then again if Findley does find a place to play outside of the states then Portland gets some of his transfer money. Maybe that's what they want so play money.

After the Findley pick RSL was taken out of the draft as you can only lose 2 players. It is shocking to see the type of players ReAL left on the table for pickings and no body took them. Robbie Russell, Collen Warner, Nelson Gonzalez and Ned Grabavoy, all good players to have on a team that will need leadership to get through their tough first season. There can still be trades made and the Super Draft will be next for the expansion clubs so wait and see next year is a long ways away.
