HEBER CITY — A Kaysville motorcyclist died in a Sunday crash on state Route 40 just east of Jordanelle Reservoir.

Conor S. Wilson, 23, appears to have struck the rear trailer of a slow-moving semitrailer hauling a loaded double tanker about 2:43 p.m. Sunday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Both vehicles were headed west on the highway. Excessive speed doesn't appear to be a factor in the crash. It appears Wilson didn't recognize the truck's slower speed on the highway's incline because there were no signs the motorcycle tried to slow down or move to another lane, the UHP reported.

Wilson was wearing a helmet and riding gear, but died at the scene.

Westbound lanes of the highway were closed for an hour and traffic was routed into the emergency lane.
