LAYTON — A Syracuse woman died late Saturday from injuries she suffered when her car veered off of the I-15 freeway.

Kaitlin Lynnell Taylor, 20, was driving south on I-15 in the far left lane when the accident happened about 9 p.m. For an unknown reason, the vehicle she was driving left the road and went into the median. The car then traveled abruptly to the right, crossed the Hill Field Road off-ramp and went over an embankment on the west side of the road, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

The car came to rest on its top in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby at 1080 N. Main in Layton.

Taylor was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, which resulted in fatal injuries, the UHP reported.

The crash remains under investigation.

Friends have set up a GoFundMe site* to help Taylor's family pay for funeral costs.
