Joseph Nance pleaded guilty to manslaughter for shooting and killing his father in a Kaysville motel. Prosecutors said they took a history of abuse into account when offering the plea deal.

Eleven rusty, World War II-era munitions containing blister agent were found in a remote section at Deseret Chemical Depot. The munitions were discovered during an environmental cleanup.

This month, Utah's new teen cell phone ban law went into effect, banning teen drivers from using their cell phones while driving. Greenhouse gas emissions over a decade-long period were analyzed by the U.S. Energy Administration, which shows a state-by-state inventory. The majority of states, including Utah, had a decrease in tons emitted from 2000 to 2010.
