LOGAN — Senior cornerback Nevin Lawson was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Boise State on Saturday.
Lawson logged a career high nine tackles, three pass deflections, and two interceptions; one of which was returned 65 yards for a touchdown, his first career touchdown.
This was the first multiple interception game by a single Aggie player since 2004, when Robert Watts and Antonio Taylor both intercepted two passes against UNLV.
"That didn't surprise me," his current and former high school teammate Travis Reynolds said at Monday's press conference.
"Week in and week out, he's always a hard worker."
Head coach Matt Wells also isn't surprised the senior won the honor, "he's really expanded his game. He's played well and he made plays with the ball in the air twice; the pick six was an awesome play."
His two interceptions Saturday night gives him three for the 2013 season and five for his career.
