COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sik) is planning a fifth visit to South Carolina ahead of the planned launch of his presidential bid later this month.

His nonprofit New Day for America said the two-term governor will visit the early primary state on Wednesday. He plans to attend Republican meet-and-greets in Hilton Head and Bluffton.

Kasich's campaign launch is expected at an event July 21. He's expected to join a crowded GOP field in which he's considered among the more moderate and lesser known of the candidates.

This would mark Kasich's second White House bid. The former congressman briefly pursued the 2000 nomination before George W. Bush emerged as the front-runner.

Kasich leads one of the nation's premier swing states. No Republican has ever won the presidency without carrying Ohio.
