NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The investigations into New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's administration don't seem to be dimming his fundraising power.

The Republican Governors Association will report Thursday that it raised a record-breaking $26.6 million in the second quarter of 2014 under Christie's leadership. The previous record was $19 million in the second quarter of 2010.

Officials say the group has now raised $60 million on Christie's watch and has $70.3 million in the bank heading into the midterm elections.

In November, Christie was elected chairman of the committee to elect Republican governors. He has been traveling across the country on its behalf fundraising for candidates.

The potential 2016 presidential candidate is planning trips to states including Tennessee, Iowa and New Hampshire later this month.

The Democratic Governors Association is expected to release its fundraising totals next week.
