LAS VEGAS (AP) — Rep. Dina Titus sailed past a little-known Democratic challenger to win the 1st District primary on Tuesday.
Titus swamped Herbert Glenn Peters, who's lost eight congressional races in Nevada and California.
Titus will face Dr. Annette Teijeiro or lawyer Jose Padilla, who were locked in a competitive race for the Republican nomination in a district that is 43 percent Latino. Both came from immigrant families.
But the odds are against any Republican in the urban district. Democrats have a 2-to-1 registration advantage, and the only Republican to ever hold the seat was former U.S. Rep. and Sen. John Ensign.
