BURLINGAME, Calif. (AP) — Two Republicans who are running for governor are sticking to familiar themes and familiar faces as they try to win over new supporters at this weekend's party convention in Burlingame.

Republicans have been steadily losing support in California and their internal debate over the direction of the party continued on Saturday.

More attendees are sporting stickers for tea party favorite Assemblyman Tim Donnelly than for former U.S. Treasury official Neel Kashkari.

Donnelly is a social conservative who advocates expanding gun rights while Kashkari is focusing on the economy and education.

Donnelly spoke to a conservative group and Kashkari is scheduled to speak to gay Log Cabin Republicans.

They also had sharply different messages for Latinos, with Donnelly saying the party's message should not change depending on the group it's targeting.
