OverviewThis week on Sunday Edition: The Republican plan for redistricting fell apart last week, and map makers went back to their drawing boards. We talked to legislative leaders from both sides of the aisle for the latest on the impasse. Plus, we got analysis of what is really going on. And after the real estate collapse what's the direction of Utah's housing market now? Hear perspectives from an economist and developer. Segment 1

The Utah Legislature hit a giant speed bump last week in its effort to draw boundaries for congressional districts. House and Senate Republicans in special session reached a stalemate Tuesday night and put off a vote on new congressional district boundaries until later this month. That followed six months of public hearings and committee meetings. On Friday, the Legislature's Redistricting Committee met again to consider some new proposals. Our guests who know all about that--Utah House Speaker Rebecca Lockhart, and Senator Ben McAdams, a member of Senate redistricting Committee and Senate Minority Caucus Manager.

Segment 2Kirk Jowers is the director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah--and, on all things political is the most quoted man in Utah. Bruce got his take on the redistricting battle, political maneuvering and what it means for both parties.

Segment 3The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage is 3.94%. But those rock-bottom rates haven't been enough to lift the housing market. We talked to a developer and an economist about how the recession, changing demographics and tastes might radically change housing trends.
