SLVHD has no more vaccine appointments for this week
November 3rd, 2009 @ 11:36am

SALT LAKE CITY -- It took 14 minutes for the Salt Lake Valley Health Department to fill three days of appointments for the H1N1 vaccine.

At 9 a.m. Tuesday the department began taking appointments to get the shots, which will be given out starting Wednesday through Friday.

Officials felt the appointment system would make it easier and spare people waiting in long lines only to be turned away when supplies of the vaccine were exhausted.

The Salt Lake Valley Health Department expects to receive more vaccine next week and will again take appointments by phone at 801-743-7280 or online.

For the most up-to-date information, go to www.slvhealth.org.

CDC priority groups

Only individuals who fall into a CDC priority group are able to get the vaccine at this time.

  • Pregnant women
  • People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
  • Health care or emergency medical personnel with patient contact
  • Children age 6 months to 24 years of age
  • Persons 64 years of age and under with chronic medical conditions associated with higher risk of medical problems from influenza
