SALT LAKE CITY — With April Fools' Day 2014 coming to an end, here is a look at the online jokes that brought in the biggest laughs.
The University of Rochester brings legos to school
The University of Rochester’s April Fools' Day joke dropped like a brick, a Lego brick that is. Each page on the school’s website changed out photos of campus life for small-scale replicas made entirely of Lego bricks. Under the heading “What you can major in,” UofR has listed a few farcical choices like “music chemistry” and “Quidditch” complete with Lego people models.
King’s College Choir announces major changes
Kings College Choir has been around for centuries. This world famous ensemble is known for its high notes, most sung by young men. According to Chaplain Richard Lloyd Morgan, the choir has had issues lately finding such young men. To make up for the lack of high-range singers, choir directors have gone to creative methods to help older singers hit the soprano notes (at least according to a video posted April 1.)
Honda offers DIY car kit
A hip young couple helped Honda explain the genius behind the company’s most recent release — a Honda Fit do-it-yourself kit. The couple heralds the benefits of “building something with your own hands,” even if it comes with over 180,000 parts to put together. Channeling the current crafting craze, Honda may actually have stumbled upon a good idea.
BYU looking for Star Wars impersonators
Students at Brigham Young University heading to class today were met by a request for inter-galactic talent. “Chewbacca roar contest! $100 best impersonation!” along with a phone number to call and leave an entry. Similar signs were posted around the Clyde Building, along with requests for Batman and Yoda impersonators.
Dominos creates the ultimate meal
Hungry for a complete meal? Want breadsticks but don’t want to deal with the hassle of juggling a pizza box and a bag of bread? Dominos has the answer for you, at least for April 1.
The pizza chain tweeted a photo today with the caption, “Introducing the Dominos EdiBox: Why think outside the box when you can eat it?” It seems like a match made in heaven: a pizza encased in a box made of bread. What could possible go wrong?
