MILFORD, Delaware — Most have felt the sting of fear that comes with suddenly noticing your wallet or purse — and everything vital that you keep in it — has gone missing. But how many have felt the joy of getting it back three years later, with $800 still inside, untouched?

Harold Walls has.

Walls is a trash thrower in Milford, Deleware, who works as part of a two-man crew. Three years ago, he and his partner were out on a run when his wallet went missing.

He and his partner retraced their steps, carefully looking for the wallet in all the places it could be, but to no avail. The worst part? He had $800 in it with which he intended to buy a 52-inch plasma screen that very evening.

"I wrote it off, honestly," Walls told The News Journal. "I'd lost it, done and gone," Walls said. "Ain't no sense in harping about it or crying over spilled milk. Keep moving."

He ended up buying the TV anyway, but the wallet stayed missing for quite some time — until the city decided to sell off some if it's older garbage trucks.

A farmer in Maine ended up buying the truck, and began dismantling the cab. That's when he found the wallet wedged so far down in the seat that no one could have seen it. The farmer anonymously sent the wallet back to the sanitation agency, who gave it to Walls. Not a dollar was missing.

"I was real surprised it came back with everything," he said. "It happens to restore a lot of faith that there are still some good people out there."
