SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Justin Seymour scored 11 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, to lift Utah to a 62-53 win over SMU on Tuesday night.

Cannen Cunningham, who had 12 points for the Mustangs (8-3), had made a follow shot to tie the game at 51 with 3:04 to play. After Seymour's big shot, Jordan Loveridge muscled a tip-in just before the shot-clock buzzer to put Utah (7-3) ahead 56-51.

Nick Russell made a layup to cut the lead to 56-53, but the SMU bench complained throughout the ensuing timeout that a shot-clock violation should have been called on Loveridge's basket. Coach Larry Brown and an assistant were both assessed technical fouls, and Jarred DuBois made four free throws to clinch the victory for the Utes, who have won five straight at home.

Reserves Brandon Taylor and Jason Washburn each scored 10 for the Utes, who avenged a 62-55 loss Nov. 28 at SMU. (Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.)
