"You complete me."

I honestly believe that we get married to complete each other, but I'm not sure about the idea of finding the one person, in all the world, that is the one and only other half of our soul. I believe that it is more likely that soul mates are created. Rather than searching the world to find our "one and only," it is more about committing to each other that we are going to work so hard together that we are going to eventually become highly, deeply connected, even on the soul level.

The dictionary definition of a soul mate is: One of two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity. Someone for whom you have a deep affinity. A person temperamentally suited to another.

Soul mates are created in a healthy, committed, character-based long term relationship. How do you create your soul mate? Here are four necessary components to creating a soul mate relationship:

1. Character - you have to have enough character to actually put your needs and desires aside and get into someone else. If you don't have character it will impact everything you do.

2. Communication - you have to learn to understand the heart of your partner and you need to be able to share your heart.

3. Companionship - you have to be good companions. You have to listen to your partner, communicate with them and understand what it is that they need from you in order to feel connected to you.

4. Commitment - you need long lasting commitment. That doesn't mean to work on the relationship only as long as it is going well. It means that you are dedicated to the relationship. You are dedicated to keep learning and keep changing. You are not going to get out of it because you believe there is another person out there that might be better for you.
