This is Lane Beattie of the Salt Lake Chamber with your Utah Business Report.

Last month marked the one year anniversary of the Utah Transit Authority's airport TRAX line. This six-mile segment of the Green Line opened April 14, 2013, providing access from downtown Salt Lake City and the rest of UTA's rail and bus system to the Salt Lake City International Airport.

The UTA airport line was constructed along North Temple, and connects riders to dozens of locally-owned shops and restaurants. The six stations along this light-rail line each feature artwork designed to represent the community's cultural heritage and enhance the public transportation experience. In all, the Green Line runs from West Valley City into downtown Salt Lake before turning west again onto North Temple to the airport. And the response has been good. This past March, more than 16-thousand people boarded the Green Line on an average weekday.

The airport extension was one of the final components of UTA's FrontLines 2015 initiative, designed to add 70 miles of rail to UTA's existing network. The FrontLines 2015 projects were completed more than two years ahead of schedule and 300 million dollars under budget last August.
