Utah's Olympic Legacy is still very much alive, and with the Road to Sochi getting closer and closer, we are reminded of the impact the 2002 Olympic Winter Games had on our state.
The 2002 Olympic Winter Games yielded 100-million dollars in profits for the Beehive State, which were distributed throughout the community to assist in various capacities, from facility maintenance to charities.
Utah's ski, hotel and lodging industries have enjoyed record-setting years since we hosted the Winter Olympics.
Residents and visitors continue to benefit from skating, hockey, curling, track, ski jumping and other activities at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, and five ice sheets throughout Utah.
I'd like to invite you to celebrate Utah's Olympic Legacy with us by wearing your Winter Olympic jackets from 2002 on February 8—the anniversary of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games starting in Salt Lake City. I'll be wearing mine and I hope you will too.
