Utah is striving to be home to some of the best higher education institutions in the nation, and the University of Utah is continually ranked among the best.
Among the top 500 universities in the world, the University of Utah has been ranked 85th in the 2013 Academic Ranking of World Universities by the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Utah is the only school in the state to be listed among the top 100 universities ever since this ranking began a decade ago.
In broad fields of study, the U ranked as number 49 in life and agricultural sciences, as well as in the top 75 for clinical medicine and pharmacy and mathematics, chemistry, and computer science. The U also ranked high in social science, engineering, technology, computer science, natural sciences, economics and business.
