This is Marty Carpenter of the Salt Lake Chamber with your Utah Business Report.

The Utah Industrial Energy Efficiency Challenge and Utah Office of Energy Development have recognized three Utah industrial firms for their successes in reducing their energy demand through energy efficiency initiatives. The winners were Fresenius (Fru-sen-EE-us) Medical Care, Boart Longyear and ATK.

These award recipients have proven leadership in industrial energy efficiency through innovative and effective efforts that have resulted in significant energy savings.

The combination of a strong reduction in energy intensity and total energy savings from implemented projects made the difference or Fresenius.

Boart Longyear was honored for energy savings in its Salt Lake City bit manufacturing plant, coupled with strategic energy management practices.

ATK has implemented a large number of energy savings projects and reported high total energy savings. ATK has been a long-time leader in shaping the energy efficiency programs and resources that serve Utah's industrial sector.
