This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Alaska's vast waters are home to some of the most productive commercial fisheries in the world. The seafood industry contributes 78,500 jobs to the Alaskan economy and an estimated $5.8 billion annually, representing some of the largest fisheries in the world. The Alaskan waters are critical for the business of brothers Kent and John Bowen, appropriately named Fog River, located on Redwood Road in Salt Lake City.

Kent started commercial fishing in 1981 in Alaska where he would overnight a hand-picked percentage of each day's catch to Salt Lake City. Over the years Fog River grew, taking care to replicate the Alaska experience, personally sourcing their fish, so they can vouch for its quality and the method used to catch it. The company has always led out in developing new and simple ways to get fresh fish to a larger, increasingly discriminating and knowledgeable customer base.

Fog River Fisheries specializes in sourcing and processing fish on the bone. They focus on old-school methods, like processing the order immediately from whole fish. See, keeping fish on the bone, no matter the type, helps it stay fresh and keeps the quality higher.

With Fog River, a meal can go from ocean to plate in as little as one day. This is thanks to logistics at the Salt Lake City International Airport, which has made doing business in Utah easier. Kent says they're grateful for the business relationship of the Delta hub and Nicholas and Company which have played strategic and progressive roles in helping this company succeed.

Fog River's main customer base is higher-end restaurants. Historically, they are known as a top-notch packer and processor with a distinctive blend of quality and freshness that stand out for flavors, textures and presentation. They also work on selling fish and seafood from sustainable sources including artisan fisherman and smaller producers operating in harmony with the environment. This approach results in their "Seafood with a Story" so they can put a true individual who actually caught the fish.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
