Kamas Food Town

This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

It was a big deal when Kamas Food Town opened up in Kamas, Utah in June 1995, and it still is. Located at 145 West 200 South in Kamas, they're celebrating their 20th anniversary and have increased their floor space four times, so it's 33,000 square feet. The store includes a pharmacy and gas station to better serve the community where they live, work and play.

Steve Tanner, owns the business in partnership with his brother, Denis, and sister and brother-in-law, Kevin and Kathleen Hoyt, who believe it's been their competitive pricing, employees, a strong management team and attention to personal service that makes locals and visitors alike feel taken care of. It's this dedication and hard work that's kept them connected to the Associated Foods network and has exceeded their business expectations. Creating the right in-store shopping experience is an important business move since over 60 percent of global respondents in a recent Nielsen survey report that going to the grocery store is an enjoyable and engaging experience.

Their overall economic impact on Kamas is huge. Between the grocery store, pharmacy and gas station, Kamas Food Town is now employing 100 people. Sales have grown every year. They also offer a price break on gas. Shoppers can get gas discounts based on the amount of groceries they buy, and they love this offer.

Kamas is known as the gateway to the Uintahs, and the owners say business at Kamas Food Town picks up by 40 percent in the summer season, so right now is their peak time. These customers include those seeking Utah's wealth of recreation opportunities as well as second home owners enjoying their property. This spike lasts from Memorial Day through Labor Day and winds down through hunting season in the fall. The location along Highway 248 also couldn't be better.

For over 140 years, Zions Bank has been the community bank of choice for Utah businesses and consumers, providing value to the communities we serve. Member FDIC.
