Oakbridge Greenhouse in West Valley City specializes in container gardening. Customers bring their pots and other containers to Oakbridge in early spring then return in May to take home the established thriving plants now living in those pots. This gives them a huge jump on the Utah growing season.
In operating Oakbridge Greenhouse for the last 30 plus years, Karen is returning to her own roots. Her parents opened a greenhouse in Springville some 45 years ago. It started as a way for her dad to support his family since he had a serious heart condition. He built a greenhouse in the backyard. They started experimenting with different ways of growing plants, beginning with hanging baskets and eventually moving into containers. This became a full nursery still in operation today.
Karen grew up in the business and eventually she and Brian decided to start one on their own, which became Oakbridge Greenhouse in West Valley City. This operation now includes around 20 employees at peak season.
This business model has created a dedicated and loyal customer base for Oakbridge Greenhouse with clients who return every year for help in starting their container garden. Their main target audience is homeowners who want the benefits of a full garden but in a more convenient way. And the business grows every year with the plants themselves as the best advertisement for neighbors and friends. In addition to the containers, Oakbridge also carries everything you need for a flowering or vegetable garden, so they can serve many gardening needs.
