This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

GBS Benefits is a full-service insurance and employee benefits firm servicing hundreds of companies of all sizes, from large corporations to small startups, all looking for guidance on insurance. Diane Fullerton, the COO, says they're now the largest benefits firm in the Intermountain West. And they're proud to be celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. They've consistently grown the company by doing what they're best at, which is fulfilling customers' insurance needs.

Health insurance remains an important concern for many business owners. Costs continue to rise, and with new regulations, some business owners find themselves in the difficult position of trying to figure out all the ins and outs of insurance coverage for their employees. That's why Rick Fielding, founder and president of GBS Benefits in Salt Lake City, and his team are experiencing impressive growth. This is one reason the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation recognizes Utah as a leader in its Enterprising States Project, the best performing state overall for the past two years.

GBS Benefits is distinguished from other benefit firms by their commitment to innovation in meeting their clients' needs, and this often means offering additional services. They now have over 100 employees, and some employees have even been on board for over 20 years.

They've also distinguished themselves in the competitive insurance market by growing their business based on customer request. For example, when clients kept coming to them for help with Cobra Compliance, interim coverage when employees are in transition, this motivated GBS Benefits to build a Cobra department. Now all of these services are in house.

Diane says the joke in this industry is that nobody gets into the business by saying they couldn't wait to end up in the insurance business. But they've grown GBS Benefits with forward thinking, fulfilling market needs and investing heavily in analytic tools to look at projections along with real-time data.

As a community-focused organization, Zions Bank has been providing value to the communities in which we live and serve for over 140 years. Member FDIC.
