This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

When starting his company, Western Timber Frame in Lehi, Brad Lavery designed it with the do-it-yourself crowd in mind. He thought a product like this would have universal appeal for those who like to get their hands dirty completing projects. He was surprised when instead his business, which provides heavy timber kits for people to assemble beautiful outdoor living spaces, appeals to those who prefer to have a professional installation. This is one reason Western Timber Frame installs over 90 percent of kits sold locally.

These patent pending and trademarked outdoor living spaces include pergolas, pavilions and gazebos. Brad's vision for Western Timber Frame is to provide a way to make it affordable for everybody to have a beautiful outdoor space in their backyard. This is a heavy timber frame product designed to withstand winds of over 100 miles per hour.

Brad says Western Timber Frame focuses on creating a unique or unusual design and taking care of every customer. That's one reason why the company is five-star rated, based solely on customer reviews. And the idea has caught on since the company has seen up to 200 percent growth with projections for over 60 percent growth in 2015, thanks to nationwide and international expansions.

Prior to starting Western Timber Frame, in partnership with Hyrum Thompson, Brad was working in the custom homebuilding market and did a lot of timber work. After 2008 they wanted to take that same high-quality timber craftsmanship and use it to create luxury living outdoor environments for a wider scope of homeowners, which is how they came up with the idea of creating kits.

Western Timber Frame now has around 30 employees in their 25,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Lehi. If you'd like want to see their work up close, you can find spaces they've installed at Beehive Brick, Café Rio, Kneaders Bakeries, and Gardner Village.

As a community-focused organization, Zions Bank has been providing value to the communities in which we live and serve for over 140 years. Member FDIC.
